Hello! You're visiting Aviral's blog, Hindustani Coins. I only got interested in numismatics recently and I mostly collect Indian coins of the Sultanate and Mughal periods. I like to make "overlays" of the coins I acquire which are colour-coded transcripts of the inscriptions on the coin alongside their translation. The inscriptions are usually in Arabic and Persian which I translate to English, Hindi and Urdu. To me they are the main attraction to this blog. Other than that I upload some pictures of my collection sometimes.

Aviral: this is tremendous! I am a collector of Mughal and Gujarat coins, and, not being fluent in the script on these coins, have often struggled to read the inscriptions, especially when, as happens so often, parts are missing from the flan. Your work has made my life SO much easier, and I applaud your careful work. Very well done!

I frankly have not made any posts to this blog in a very long time, and I've been spending less time on numismatics. But if you have any Mughal or Gujarat coins you'd like to share I'd love to try and make the inscription legible.

Aviral: I am so glad I found your study. What makes your work so useful for non-native lovers of these coins is your clear overlays. So many books just give the ‘standard’ script from the coin, which is usually nothing like the one on the coin itself. I think there is a huge opening for someone like you to make them so much more accessible for the amateur collector/researcher. I am wrestling with a few coins right now, but if I get stuck, I shall definitely reach out to you. Congratulations again, Jon
